Pakistan has often been accused by US congressmen of playing double standards with its allies on war on terror. The reality is however totally different. The arrest of Matthew Craig Barrett an American citizen, previously deported on the charges of espionage signifies that it is not Pakistan but America is playing double standards. It appears from such events that America have intention to destabilize Pakistan in the name of the war on terrorism. War on terrorism is crucial war and Pakistan is a front line state that has suffered numerous human and financial losses on this war of aggression and attrition. According to reports arrested American citizen was deployed on atomic installations to collect secret information. If it is true then we have justification to believe that America is our foe not friend, and it is deceiving Pakistan in the guise of friendship. Also, it is making the mockery of our sacrifices and sincere efforts to eradicate terrorism in the region.

Many Other diplomatic and strategic moves by American establishment make its role suspicious in the region. For instance, American establishment and congressmen are silent on blatant Indian involvement in the affairs of Pakistan. India is contributing in terrorism against which America leads a global war. Pakistan and America are allies and both are fighting against terrorism, if India tries to weak Pakistan by using the guise of terrorism than it means India is fanning flames of terrorism to target both Pakistan and America. In such condition if America is still supporting India, it means America herself is not sincere with the cause to eradicate terrorism in the region. It can also be assumed that establishment does not want peace, but they just have the intention to skim their benefits through proxies and destabilization. These moves create trust deficit, which harms the cause for which both countries are fighting. if American establishment seriously considers our efforts against terrorism, they must support us morally and politically.

These events also satisfy the suspicion that if one or two hard line spies are arrested, no one knows how many would have been working to harm the interest and strength of Pakistan. And no one knows how many losses they would have incurred to Pakistan. We have also prior examples of adventure of Raymond Davis and US-led NATO forces attack on Pakistan army post near Pak-Afghan border. Pakistan needs to reconsider its friends and foes. Pakistan foreign office also needs to strongly protest against America and its allies in the war on terror.
